FINE JEWELLERY DESIGN

Ana has passionately redefined jewellery design and the way jewellery is worn by women. She regards herself as a designer and stylist, demonstrating innovative ways in which jewellery can be used to adorn the body. Ana is dedicated to creativity, craft and innovation. This creativity is fueled by a naturally curious mind, a desire to collaborate and an unwavering commitment to quality. Her designs are unapologetically avant garde, subtly subverting the expectations of how precious stones and metals should be combined.

Each piece begins with a concept and develops a narrative, giving the wearer the opportunity to trigger curiosity and inspire conversation, through their own personal jewels. Individual pieces are infused with their own story, and as they are handed down through the generations, from mother to daughter, so are the narratives connected to the pieces. This distinct way of imbuing her inspirational themes within the pieces has become synonymous with Ana de Costa jewels and objet.

‘I am fiercely independent and as a result I have always had a strong vision of how jewellery and objet should be designed from concept through to creation. I guess this strength of vision and passion has always been a driving force for me’

ANA DE COSTA

As a true artisan, Ana is an avid devotee of education and craftsmanship. A journey of learning that is shared by her clients. The level of craftsmanship she produces is comparable to the famed high jewellery houses of Place Vendome, Paris, and also ably demonstrates the extraordinarily high quality that can also be achieved in Great Britain in the creation of fine jewellery and objet. The House carefully creates unique, often one-of-a-kind pieces, eschewing mass production. This embodies Ana’s free spirit, passion for detail and desire to innovate. London workshops ethically handcraft all of Ana’s pieces, for a fair and living wage. It is House policy to locally source as many necessary business materials as it can here in the UK, like its packaging handcrafted in Suffolk and its polishing cloths from Manchester.

Ana’s designs blur the boundaries between fine jewellery, objet d’art and art. She is happiest making exquisite, unique, ‘antiques of the future’ to be cherished, worn and handed down through generations.

THE HOUSE

The House has evolved from creating fine jewellery into one specializing in high concept complex objet d’art. These, often unique, pieces embody a depth of vision, meticulous attention to detail and are steeped in research; values rarely seen today. Ana is unwavering in her commitment to these elements as, together, they represent the sum of her vision. The pursuit of realising this vision is her driving force.

Ana believes that producing enduring luxury is ultimately, all about time - the time it takes to research a concept, to source the finest materials from around the world and the time it takes to create each thoughtful piece. The House often ‘measures’ time and workmanship by the number of hands it takes to produce an objet or piece of our jewellery worthy of the name. In most cases, at least seven skilled artisans are involved in our production process. Each creation is a testament to this dedication.
